Our Story

William and Betty Education Corporation’ was founded in 2018 by Gina Alexandria Cleveland as ‘Bill and Betty’s Foundation’.  The organization was founded in honor of her grandparents who both served as North Carolina public teachers.  As ‘Bill and Betty’s Foundation’, the Organization engaged in philanthropic endeavors including awarding small scholarships and book stipends to graduating, minority and college bound seniors at the great E. E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, NC.  As a third generation E. E. Smith graduate; this experience allowed Gina the opportunity through the organization to come full circle through giving back to the institution that gave so much the her and her family.

Since 2018, Bill and Betty’s Foundation has also had the opportunity to assist in the advancement of educational and community agendas through volunteering and sponsoring Educational Arts Programs, providing direct personal financial assistance to educators, sponsoring classroom materials and through collaboration with community based, charitable entities and organizations.  In 2020, Bill and Betty’s Foundation collaborated with Restoration Fellowship Assembly, Inc. to provide early COVID-19 relief packages with basic essentials to Elderly Durham Residents.  We also collaborated with Released Women’s Ministry and Frontlinez Ministries to provide COVID-19 relief through the distribution of food, cleaning supplies, personal care and sanitization supplies and the purchase of social distancing equipment to support community giveaways. We also collaborated with Restoration Fellowship Assembly to provide Thanksgiving dinners to 30 Merrick Moore Elementary families in November, 2020.

In 2021 and 2022, Bill and Betty’s Foundation has collaborated with Frontlinez, Revolve Church and a host of other non-profits to provide bookbags and grade appropriate school supplies to pre-K-college students living in severely disadvantaged-mid income neighborhoods in Durham, NC.  We have also provided household sanitization items, coats and winter accessories to students and residents of McDougald Terrace, Cornwallis Apartments, Liberty Street Apartments, Freedom House at Durham, Urban Ministries, Oxford Manor and Hoover Road Apartments.

In Summer of 2022, Bill and Betty’s Foundation became registered as a non-profit 501c3 organization with the state of North Carolina  and the Federal Government as the ‘William and Betty S. McCall Education Corporation’.  As the William and Betty S.
